Kawishiwi Lodge is one of the most gorgeous wedding venues in Minnesota. While it has been described as rustic chic, I think it’s more “elegant outdoorsy” but, honestly, Kawishiwi Lodge is the perfect venue for easy-going, nature lovers who don’t mind being surrounded by the sweet scent of pine trees and feeling the breeze off the lake on their faces. And it was the perfect choice for Patrick and Megan, who are seriously easy breezy people and were a dream to work with!
Patrick and Megan met at college when both had majors in the same department. Over the years, they had several classes together and were even lab partners a few times. In their final year, Megan and her best friend, Claire, were partners on the Senior Capstone Project with Patrick and, well, the rest is history.
On New Year’s Eve 2019, while they were out at a fun New Year’s Eve Ball with friends, Patrick proposed at midnight and Meg said yes, in between about 1000 kisses! It was the perfect proposal and when they started wedding planning, they both knew they wanted to have a small, intimate wedding surrounded by their nearest and dearest and they pulled it off!
These two had the most perfect summer wedding. Not a cloud in the sky, warm weather, and a stunning beautiful, yet intimate wedding with so much history! Megan and Patrick are both charismatic, hilarious, and a joy to be around and they simply light up the room with their infectious love. The icing on the cake was that Megan’s parents favorite vacation spot is Kawishiwi Lodge in Ely, MN. So they chose to get married at the lodge—a place where Megan has so many fond childhood memories. Patrick and Megan ALSO chose to get married on her parents’ anniversary date of August 5th so we not only celebrated these two embarking on a marriage voyage together (in a canoe), we also celebrated her parents’ 36th year of marriage!
I wish you both a lifetime of adventure, many dances on the dock to some Frank Sinatra, canoe rides, and all the love you can soak up!

Fueled by equal parts strong coffee and French 75’s, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that convey distinctive emotion through intentional moments and create elevated images you’ll treasure for a lifetime. I showcase your story and your love in an exceptional, gracious way. I believe in real moments, heartfelt conversations, love stories that grow stronger through the storms and the kind of joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. When I'm not tearing up during the vows, you'll find me whipping up a new recipe in the kitchen, listening to Sinatra, or snuggling with my mini me.
